Come along with me as I travel to the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on UFC 288 fight weekend to attend the pre-fight press conference, ceremonial weigh-ins, and ultimately the highly-anticipated PPV card! Also during this weekend, recently crowned at UFC 291 BMF Champion Justin Gaethje put on a meet and greet for fans at a local liquor store in New Jersey. This was my second attempt at meeting the fighter after arriving late to his last M&G in Miami, Florida! I watched spoiler alert And-Still UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling take on Olympic Gold Medalist Wrestler and form Bantamweight Champion Henry Cejudo. As a wrestler himself, beginning in sophomore year in high school, and a D3 wrestler at SUNY Cortland, Sterling was definitely a matchup for Cejudo. In this match, Sterling took down the Olympic Gold Medalist four times, certainly giving him a run for his money. Cejudo took this fight in place of O'Malley, who gladly passed up the opportunity in order to better prepare his wrestling game, as recently revealed in an interview with Megan Olivi. Stay tuned because Saturday, August 19th, I'll be posting my vlog from UFC 288, just ahead of Aljamain's next PPV main-event on Saturday. Come along with me for a quick trip down to Strong Island to attend UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling's Open Workout! This open workout came just 8 days before the champ defends his belt against Bantamweight contender "Suga" Sean O'Malley in Boston, MA at the TD Garden on August 19. The tried and true wrestler and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black-belt hailing from Uniondale will take on the young and rising striker hailing from the Valley of the Sun. He had a few guest fighters there including #1 UFC Bantamweight Merab Dvalishvili, former UFC Lightweight Al Ianquinta, and UFC Lightweight Matt "SteamRolla" Frevola. Co-owner of LAW MMA, Ray Longo, was in attendance as well. Longo and his gym are renowned for training some of the UFC's most notable fighters, a hand full of which currently compete. Chris Weidman, the other co-owner and fighter under the Serra-Longo team at the gym, is also fighting this weekend at UFC 292 in the Middleweight division against Brad Tavares. While he was not in attendance for this open workout, his likeness was plastered on the wall of the gym all the same as the others. After the workout, fans and journalists had a chance to ask Alja "Main-Event" Sterling questions during a Q&A session. Following the Q&A, attendees were invited to take photos with, talk to, and get autographs signed by the various notable names in the gym. There was a solid turnout from locals of the tri-state area all inspired by this team in some profound way. This being the third open event of Sterling's last three PPV appearances, the reigning Bantamweight champ will surely put on many more workouts in the future. Join me and my dad on a venture across the newly completed pathway on the infamous Tappan Zee Bridge in Westchester / Rockland County! Listen along as I recount some historical facts about the bridge and more. Currently in legislation there is a bill hoping to be passed by many a New Yorker to change the name of this bridge ~officially~ back to "Tappan Zee". The name not only has historical significance to the settling of the area, but it is held closely to New Yorkers' hearts as it's what the current living generations have always known it as. Whatever you choose to call it, definitely consider checking out this newly constructed area. As we did, you can enjoy a nice walk on the bridge, but it doesn't have to end there. I intended to pick up some dunks, but didn't find anything worth buying, plus it was so overwhelming with so many options to pick from! My trip was successful in the end because I met sneaker YouTuber Qias Omar who was there with his wife Mina.
